Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Unveiled as the World's First Snapdragon 712 Phone
Some hours ago, the Xiaomi Mi 9 was the centre of attraction at a launch event. However, another device, the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE (Special Edition) caught the attention of the GSMArena team. This is because the SE model is the first phone in the world to sport a Snapdragon 712 chipset.

According to GSMArena, Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Junas introduced this device which has rear camera assembly that includes a 48MP camera and a Sony IMX586 sensor. The phone also has a UD fingerprint scanner on the front.

Furthermore, the Mi 9 SE (which is smaller than the flagship) has a 5.97-inch AMOLED display that features a waterdrop notch and a slightly thicker chin. The Snapdragon 712 chipset works with 6GB RAM with 64/128GB storage.

Talking about the new mobile processor, it shares similar specs with the Snapdragon 710; however, the 712 has a faster CPU. Similar features between both chipsets include their fabrication on the 10nm FiNFET process and their modems which support dual LTE, WiFi standards and Bluetooth 5.0.

The primary camera has a 13MP ultra-wide lens and an 8MP telephoto lens. Also, the Mi S9E’s selfie snapper consists of a 20MP sensor which offers a collection of beauty filters for ideal for social media posts.

The smartphone has a fast charging 3, 070mAh battery that is capped with 18W. Unlike most devices, the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE does not have a 3.5 mm audio jack; thus, you will have to use wireless headphones or the USB-C port. Other specs include the latest MIUI 10 skin, Game Turbo Booster, and an NFC chip.

Like the Xiaomi Mi 9, the Mi 9 SE is available in Blue, Violet, and Black. You can purchase the Mi 9 Special Edition for CNY1,999 ($300/€262) and CNY 2,299 ($340/€300)
